ADDING / DELETING TIMELINES

To create a new timeline, click on the icon. A New timeline will appear in the timeline list. The new timeline will be blank, and contain no content. To name the timeline and adjust any settings, double-click on the timeline where the name should appear to bring up the settings window.

A new window will appear where you can enter in the name of the Timeline as you would like it to appear on the Timeline list.

To delete an entire timeline, click on the icon. This will delete all contents of the timeline.

INTERACTIVE POINTS, URLs, TEXT MESSAGES

To add an Interactive Point, click on the icon. An interactive point will pause the playback and present the user with a question, send them to a website on the internet, send them a message, or present them with how they would to proceed. The interactive point will be placed at the Yellow Trackbar in the timeline that is highlighted. Note: It is highly recommended that once an interactive point has been placed on the timeline, to keep it in its original location, and not move it around. If the Interactive Point needs to be moved after placing it, it is recommended to delete the first one and insert a new one.

To edit the contents of an Interactive Point, double-click on it in the timeline. A new window will appear. On the top, a URL can be added in the Open URL field which will open up when the Interactive Pont is reached in the recording. Note: Entering in a URL is OPTIONAL. In the Caption field, text can be entered to present a question or message. Finally, along the bottom of the page, Variants, or ‘Answers’, can be inserted to direct students to different parts of the recording, depending upon what variant they choose. Click the Add button to add additional variants. Adjusting the Hour (HH), Minute (MM), and Second (SS) will take the user to that respective time. NOTE: To have the recording continue, increase that Variable by 1 second.

To add a URL to the timeline, click the icon. This URL will stop the playback of the recording, and present the user with a website. The URL’s act in much the same way as an Interactive point, however they are created on the timeline using a different color (purple) to help easily distinguish between Interactive points and URL’s.

To edit the contents of a URL, double click on it in the timeline. A new window will appear. On the top, the URL can be added in the Open URL field. The web address that is entered here will be opened when the URL is reached on the timeline during playback. In the Caption field, corresponding text can be entered, or some sort of direction can be given. Finally, along the bottom of the page, Variants can be inserted to direct students to different parts of the recording, depending upon what variant they choose. Click the ADD button to add additional variants. Adjusting the Hour (HH), Minute (MM), and Second (SS) will take the user to that respective time. NOTE: To have the recording continue, increase the Variable time by 1 second.

To add a text message to the timeline, click on the icon. Any text message will appear in the same window as the Public Chat Window in AMVONET Connect. This can be used to send out messages or directions to students without interrupting the flow of the playback.

To edit the message you would like to send to the students, double click on the clip on the timeline. A new window will appear. There will be two fields to insert information. The first will contain the name of the person saying the message and will default to your name. The message will be initialized with some temporary text already inserted in it (Temp text). Place your message here.

UNDO / REDO

To undo an edit, click on the icon. You may use the undo button to reverse action / edits up to the last point in which the file was saved.

To redo an edit, click on the icon.

COPY / PASTE

To copy a clip or multiple clips on a timeline, click and hold the mouse while moving it over the selected clip(s). This same action of selecting multiple clips can be achieved by clicking and holding down the Shift Key, and then clicking on the selected clips with the mouse. When finished, release the Shift Key.

After the desired clips have been selected, click on the icon.

To Paste the selected clips(s) that were copied, click on the icon.

SELECT / CUT / DELETE TOOLS

Use the Select Tool to select clips, move clips, and navigate through the timeline.

To cut a clip on the timeline into two different clips, use the Scissor Tool . When this is selected, the cursor image will be replaced by the scissor icon with a dashed line going through it. The dashed line represents the spot on the clip at which it will be split.

To Erase a clip on the timeline, use the Erase Tool . When this is selected, the cursor image will be replaced by the eraser icon. To erase a clip(s), move the eraser over the desired clip, and then click the mouse.
